Eco-Science Club July Activity: E-Waste Management & Community Awareness Drive

“Small electronics lead to huge pollution when ignored—but collectively, small actions make a massive impact.”

This July, the Terra Tinkerers took a major step towards tackling one of the fastest-growing environmental hazards: electronic waste (e-waste).

Old chargers, broken headphones, discarded circuits, and obsolete gadgets often end up in landfills, leaching toxic heavy metals into the soil and water. To prevent this, our club organized a week-long E-Waste Collection Drive alongside an interactive awareness campaign.

Together, we collected a total of 35 kg of e-waste from across the school community to keep toxic materials out of local landfills. To deepen our impact, Ms. Niharika Ghosh from NGO Shrunkhala conducted an engaging workshop for our club members, shedding light on responsible e-waste disposal and sustainable consumption habits. The entire 35 kg collection was safely handed over to Shrunkhala for authorized recycling. A huge thank you to everyone who contributed and to team Shrunkhala for empowering us to make a tangible, eco-friendly difference!
